Life Time Pet Insurance

Also known as cover for life pet insurance or whole life cover, this term is used to describe a form of pet insurance cover which protects your pet for life.  It is designed to cover for ongoing or durational conditions such as diabetes as long as you renew this policy yearly with the same insurance provider.  Bear in mind that practically all insurers exclude pre-existing conditions so this does tie you, for a ‘life time’, to the same provider.  If you take out this cover and then decide to transfer to another insurer you will find that your new provider will not cover what they see as a pre-existing condition.

Having said that, it is still a very good choice of cover in that it does mean that you can then afford the very best treatment for your pet as it enables you to make as many claims as you need to.  So, this removes the worry of making a claim for a condition and then finding out that you have reached the limit of the amount set for that condition and so are unable to make a further claim for that condition.

Life time pet insurance does set a yearly monetary limit in regard to the total amount that can be claimed.  However, this is reset when the policy is renewed.  So, as long as you keep renewing your policy and pay the premium determined by your provider then your pet will be covered for the rest of its life.

Insurers may charge excess fees for life time pet insurance annually if the treatment spans multiple policy years. After your pet reaches a certain age you may also be asked to pay percentage of the amount claimed.
